Making dental care accessible to every Nigerian

HomoDentHealth was built to address a critical problem: millions of Nigerians suffer from dental pain without knowing whether to seek immediate care, home-manage their symptoms, or book a routine appointment. Delayed or incorrect responses to dental emergencies can have severe — even life-threatening — consequences.

Our platform bridges that gap by providing AI-assisted symptom screening, triage classification, patient education, and direct referral to verified dental clinics — all from any mobile phone with internet access.

To investigate and evaluate the impact of WhatsApp chatbot and website on dental diagnostics, treatment planning and patient oral health education in selected dental clinics in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, with the aim of providing evidence-based recommendations for improving clinical efficiency, patient engagement, and the quality of dental care through digital innovation.

Creating a healthier Nigeria through accessible dental care

We envision a future where every Nigerian has equal access to quality dental care, regardless of their location or economic status.

To promote a future where digital technologies such as WhatsApp chatbot and website can enhance dental diagnostics and treatment planning, making oral healthcare more accessible especially in resource limited context, efficient patient oral health education, and patient-centered dental services.

What this platform is designed to do

🎯

Accurate Triage

Classify dental complaints into four urgency levels — emergency, urgent, moderate, and mild — using a validated rule-based clinical logic engine.

🚨

Emergency Detection

Instantly identify life-threatening conditions such as spreading oral infections, severe trauma, and uncontrolled bleeding.

📍

Referral Automation

Connect patients to the nearest verified dental clinic based on their location, urgency level, and required specialty.

📚

Patient Education

Reduce dental anxiety and improve oral hygiene practices through accessible, evidence-based educational content.

📱

Rural Accessibility

Serve patients in rural and semi-urban areas with limited access to dental professionals, using mobile-first design.

🔒

Data Privacy

Protect patient health data using HTTPS, password hashing, role-based access control, and patient consent workflows.

What this platform cannot do

Transparency about our limitations is essential for ethical deployment of this system.

⚠️
Not a Replacement for Professional Care: HomoDentHealth does not provide a final dental diagnosis. All results must be confirmed by a licensed dental professional.
⚠️
No Prescriptions: This platform does not recommend prescription medications. Only over-the-counter pain management guidance is provided.
⚠️
No Treatment Planning: Complex treatment decisions, including extractions, root canals, or orthodontics, require in-person dental examination.
⚠️
Symptom-Based Only: The triage engine uses reported symptoms only — it cannot perform clinical examination, X-rays, or laboratory tests.
ℹ️
Emergency Situations: If you believe you have a dental emergency, please go to the nearest hospital emergency room or call 112 immediately — do not rely solely on this platform.
